Saturday afternoon I was marketing at Rittenhouse Farmers Market when my sister came by and handed off a rack of goat. It was a Coleman Brand cryo'd 8 rib package, prime! Thank you so much lil sister.
Sunday morning the Lil Lady went off to HeadHouse Market leaving me with ample time for shopping on my own. At 1pm HeadHouse was still bustling and overflowing with inspiration. Beechwood had a selection of heirloom garlic. I find these varieties plainly superior to supermarket knobs and absolutely worthy of the higher price and the extra fuss. They also offered an authentic French shallot variety.
BlackBird Heritage Farm's red zebra tomatoes were irresistible as was the meaty yellow tomato they were offering. I got KO'd by Blooming Glen's Purple Genovese basil's perfumed punch. I also snatched their zucchini blossoms. We plated the flowers with cheeses and julienned the squash into the tomato salad.
Savoie Farms 'Onaway' potatoes along with a few from a blue variety were headed for the deep fryer.
We started out with BirchRun Hills Blue and a Baguette from WildFlour. We also buttered our bread with suave and smoky walleye dip that we swapped for canelés with Aimee @ Talula's Table.
This was simply great grub.
